TCW Presents to Communities in South Gloucestershire
On 27th October, TCW presented at South Gloucestershire’s Environment Forum in Bradley Stoke. Community groups and local councillors were there to hear about the council’s progress in reducing its carbon emissions and its future plans. TCW presented its work in India and its UK community programme and invited groups to sign up and there was a very positive response. One very interesting scheme being trialled in several areas in South Gloucestershire is turning the street lights off in the middle of the night, between 12.30 and 5.00 (not in high crime areas or accident black spots). The communities have all been on board with this and the villages are saving 40% on energy consumption for street lighting. So far accidents and crime have not increased.
